Immigration advice for parents with children in the UK
A parent visa may allow a parent to live in the UK to care for their child or continue their parental relationship with a child who is already living in the UK.

Who this route is for
This route may be available where the child is living in the UK and is British, Irish, settled, has qualifying EU Settlement Scheme status, or has lived in the UK continuously for the required period in circumstances where it would not be reasonable for them to leave.
The applicant will usually need to show that they have sole or shared parental responsibility, or that they have direct access to the child and are actively involved in the child’s upbringing.
Where parents are separated, where there are court orders, informal family arrangements or difficult communication with the other parent, the evidence must be prepared with particular care.
Why careful preparation matters
Parent visa applications often depend on the quality of the evidence showing the parent’s genuine and active role in the child’s life. The Home Office will look for reliable evidence from schools, medical professionals, courts, local authorities or other formal sources.
Photographs and informal messages may help provide background, but they are rarely enough on their own. A strong application should explain the family circumstances clearly and support them with appropriate evidence.
